I really feel that way too. i wish I was aroung when Woman movies stars were looked at and idolized because of their breath taking beauty. Marilyn Monroe for example. I would be just like her. ""I knew I belonged to the public and to the world, not because I was talented or even beautiful, but because I had never belonged to anything or anyone else."
Well said. I only widh things were that way still. There's so much craziness in the world now days it just doesn't seem possible. Sure there's those pretty actresses but I think the woman from the 50's and 60's were just....beautiful.
"people are ignorant to thoughts and ideas, specifically those that contrast with their own." do you not suffer from that same ailment?
there will always be those things that you feel are not so great about life, but you just to take the good with the bad.
your thoughts and actions are admirable...
its funny that you post this now because i was just having a conversation with a friend about what era/decade we thought we should have belonged to. according to her, im quite comparable with men of the 50's. i wont admit shes wrong for saying so...ha.
Perhaps "ignorant" wasn't the best word to choose for that statement. Or, maybe I should add the words "want to be". "people [want to be] ignorant to thoughts and ideas, specifically those that contrast with their own."
I am not content with laying down. I feel that it is my duty to do something about the problems concerning our world. If I can open just one person's mind, just a little, I will consider it a victory and continue the battle.
Comparable to a 50s man? TV-style 50s, or otherwise?
It is probable that some battles will prove impossible, for me. However, I do realize that there are most likely people like me battling the same things. Just because a General dies, that doesn't mean that the war is over. If that makes sense.
From reading your prior posts, it doesn't seem like anyone could conclude that you're a prude. What a strange connection. Do you agree with it?
My inadequate 1.9 cents...iheartritalinApril 21 2005, 15:40:13 UTC
Most people like us (emos, rebels, outcasts, and whatnot) feel like they should have been born in another time. However, if we were born in a different era, we, due to our pessimistic nature, would remain outcasts and sorrow would still never leave our sides. We only feel as if we prefer life in a different time because it differs from what events are occuring now at the time in which we feel oucast or rejected. It's just a way of adapting and subconsciously saying, "I don't need their fun."

i like what you've said...except that being scene doesnt require you to be an outcast, a pessimist nor sorrow filled. i just dont understand why that is thought about emotional people.
It's just a way of adapting and subconsciously saying, "I don't need their fun." this is such a great point. and you have the sweetest icon ever. ha.

its one in the same... tv-style so accurately describes people of that generation...
morals, beliefs, prudishness, etiquette, and all that jazz.
