What is it exactly that you like about Bush? I'm not necessarily saying this holds true for you, but I know many people our age just do whatever their parents do, and considering your dad is strongly Republican, I thought maybe this had something to do with it. I dunno, maybe not ( ... )

wow, long note. to start, yeah i am influenced mostly by my family being republican, but going to an extremely liberal school, where i spend most my time actually paying attention to politics, i'm not as influenced by it. freshman year you would have asked me if i was a republican and i would say yes because my dad is and gone on w/ my life not knowing anything about the party or what they believe. now the tables are turned and i have taught myself (because i sure as hell am not going to hear the other side at ckm) a lot about the party and what exactly is going on w/ the way bush has taken his administration into iraq and such. i barely talk to my dad about politics, and when i do i argue the left-wing side and realize that the arguments i thought held strong in my class rooms don't hold strong when i hear the conservative point of view ( ... )

"liberals spend a lot of their time arguing that the conservatives are wrong for certain reasons while conservatives are more focused on 'this is what the party is and this is how it's done'"

Part of that is true...Democrats could not do what the Republicans did: Force an easy to understand message down people's throats over and over and over again. The sad fact is that messaging works. It is just the way it goes, and it sucks if there are actually complex things that need to be addressed.

"if i were to go to another country, i know that i would be safe"

I guess it all depends on which country you go to, but you're living in a fairy tale land if you think thats true of all countries. I'm not sure you understand how much so many nations HATE america/americans. It is said that 92% of people outside of America would have voted for someone other than Bush. 92%. People hate Bush. He does what he wants with blatant disregard for anyone and everything he does not agree with. You really want a president who tosses the UN aside when he ( ... )

i think as a politician, it's pretty much impossible not to break the 'thou shalt not lie' commandment. haha. i agree completely that that's why people didn't vote for kerry. the democrat's need to focus on what they are, because that's what the republican's hold onto and publicize. i think because of what bush believes in, people can hold onto the fact that he has a faith based belief in the united states, and kerry doesn't. so maybe bush's morals are not as good as other christian's, but they're more reliable to fall back on then kerry's, because he didn't put them out in public like bush has done.
