The only non-chemical solution I've ever found is to wear a lightweight long sleeve shirt, pants, socks, and a hat. I suppose you could wear a bug net.

I say socks because those top of the foot bites are the worst.

yeah I was wearing skirts with knee high socks during the day & then at night: pants, knee high socks, tights, long sleeved shirts & hoodie. and yet I am irresistable.
