a question i want to pose:

if a person asks a question or states something and you don't correct them, is that considered lying?

depends on the situation. sometimes it is better to keep our mouths shut, especially if it will hurt someone in the process of correction.

oh, hard one. "Beware beware lest ye offend any heart!" and "Truthfulness is the foundation of all human virtues."

i think silence sometimes indicates that there is this internal struggle between saying something honest and hurtful, or nothing at all. many people recognize this, and you can pray that this person does too.

of course, if it was just a statement and they weren't expecting an answer anyway, that's rough.
