I can't say anything about this swordsman in particular, but I wonder if the general public has become so accustomed to guns being real and swords being in movies that they've forgotten that SWORDS ARE DEADLY TOO.

He was lucky that the other guy had no experience, else the student would've et it.

Let them forget about swords! Blades are my weapon of choice - silent and deadly. I will admit I'd rather face an attacker at a distance with a handly high powered weapon, but you just never know.
