The return

What on earth has happened to the security in and around the Ministry of Magic building? The lack of response from anyone and the behavior of the rioters --for that's what they are. Let us not kid ourselves into thinking they were simply well-meaning protesters. They came with half bricks!-- is simply unacceptable. If we are not able to ensure the ( Read more... )

Their training, yes. But we can't get rid of all there aurors. Perhaps we should scrap their higher-ups.

...I'm glad my tribulations amuse you.

Alastor Moody, for example. Perhaps even Rufus Scrimgeor, although he has always been civilized to me. But if the cost is having inefficient aurors, we may as well get rid of all the senior aurors and start from scratch.

You're lucky they didn't pick on you.

From what I saw, there was as quick a reaction from Aurors as I'd expect. Unfortunately, they are rather understaffed, I would think, and dealt with as much as they could in the capacity they had avaliable to them. I thought they did a commendable job, given the circumstances.

I don't expect you to know what really happened, Weasley. You were not in the thick of the crowd.

I was in my office, actually, watching events unfold. Because the Aurors had made sure me and Perkins were safe before heading out. I'm sure, if you were in your office, they'd have done the same for you.

I was heading to my office, Weasley. Unfortunately, those protesters have blocked my path. By the time I arrived through floo, they were getting rather violent.

Why they were even allowed to assemble in Ministry grounds, I would never understand.

You think it's unacceptable? Would you be willing to say that in an interview?

Well you're the one getting all worked up about the Ministry, you really were asking for it.

My having strong opinions on the way this Ministry handles situations does not give you permission to publish it in your rag.

If you had half a brain Dolores, you'd realise that publishing your scruples in a public place creates a significant weakness, not to mention it gives those parasites from the papers something to grab hold of.

As a matter of fact, Alastor, I believe it's high time for the public to know that the Ministry of Magic is significantly weak. Foreign Ambassadors are killed in our country, there are riots in the streets, half of the Ministry officials are talking about resigning. If you do not speak to the Minister about a stricter change in policy, I will.

Maybe the aurors and security guards just don't like you, Umbridge.

I'm coming to realize that, Minister.

Are you well, Minister Bagnold?

Maybe you could try being nicer to them and they'd feel inclined to protect you during a riot.

I am fit as a fiddle, why do you ask?

Or maybe they could do their jobs and we wouldn't have riots to begin with.

Considering that we just pulled through quite a breach in Ministry security, I would have expected you to be... just a little concerned.
