Husband (20s/30s) wears cargo shorts/pants and button/collar shirts/t-shirts.

Wife (20s/30s) says to husband that he should dress more appropriately for his age: cut the cargo stuff, opting for straight or tapered angle pants and less trendy shoes.

What say you?

I think the wife should encourage her husband to wear whatever clothes make him happy and that he is comfortable in.

I like men in cargo pants, I think they hang nicely off the tush. So I'm biased.

Husband should wear whatever he wants as long as he's appropriately covered and the clothing is appropriate for the occasion. So maybe no cargos at the opera, i'd not fuss about it otherwise.

I have to admit that my first response was, "What's so wrong with cargo pants?" I wear them heaps, especially when I'm hiking. Comfy, and pocket-tacular! Less immediate response: probably something along the lines of 'wtf'.

I'd be incredbly peeved at any partner who thought I should change my style entirely to please them. That's one of the most commonly used examples of 'are you in an abusive relationship?' campaigns. Unless he's dressing inappropriately (shorts at work in an office job, trying to wear jeans to a funeral, not situationally appropriate clothes to a nice restaurant) or he's obviously showing poor personal hygiene, he's his own person and can be trendy if he wants to.

I think people should wear what they want. I dislike people telling other people that they should do things to their likes vs. getting to be themselves.
