So I'm done with school for the summer. Of course within 30 minutes of being home I got horribly sick and spent my first 24 hours at home dying of a stupid stomach virus. That was no fun. I'm still trying to get my appetite back from that ( Read more... )

Hmm.

I don't think you're wrong, but doesn't semen contain a full set of DNA?

I don't think most pro-choice people like abortion, either. I'm afraid that if we outlawed it, it would get done illegally and mothers would die too. Until we magically find some way to keep unwanted pregnancies from happening, this is going to be a huge dilemma.

I don't approve of abortion, nor would I ever suggest anyone do it. I am pro-choice, though, for the record.

actually, semen only contains half a set of DNA. eggs contain the other half and when they combine then you get a baby with a full set.

yeah you're right that pro-choice don't LIKE abortion. But I think that "it'll happen anyways" isn't really a valid reason for making something legal. regular murder happens anyways, that doesn't mean we should legalize it just because we can't control it.

Oh, yeah. I remember all of this cell replication crap. Thanks. I haven't taken any kind of biology class for a couple of years.

If we suddenly legalized murder, it would go out of control. Illegalizing abortion (while it's technically murder) would probably have a prohibition-like effect.

I don't know if it's right to have it legalized. This is why I'm not a politician. I wish there were some other solution, but I'm terrified of what could happen if abortion was left to back alleys and coathangers.

A woman considering getting an abortion... do you really think she deserves to be a mother, anyhow? The state can't force her to give her baby up for adoption just because they think she's not fit to be a mother.

the mother may not deserve that privelidge but the baby definitely doesn't deserve to DIE.

I don't think more people would want abortions if it were illegal. I think it would be significantly less. In today's world if a doctor is caught breaking the law he would lose his medical license so VERY few doctors would risk that. When faced with the option of either childbirth or a risky procedure by an unlicensed doctor, most people would chose to have the baby because it is so much safer and people are more aware of the dangers of underground abortions. Illegalizing it wouldn't completely stop it, but it would stop huge numbers of people from doing it.

If a woman is really willing to KILL an innocent baby, then an infection or death due to a bad procedure would be her own fault and her own choice.
