This semester's grades are awful. I could actually not have predicted that, in any way. I was not there mentally, dealing with other people's shit, not in my comfort zone, unscheduled, burnt out, concentrating on college applications, making all sort of excuses for myself. Redo? -

I could be reductionist. But. In acknowledging that some people are dicks, we can hope that there are people sitting on the opposite end of that spectrum. (Self-interest and self-absorption are in the middle there. The question is: where isn't it?) So: Some People Are Just Dicks. -

I backslid into Philip Zimbardo. You remember Philip Zimbardo. Here is what he thinks are "The Seven Steps to Becoming Evil." It's probably not that simple, but I think I agree.
- mindlessly taking the first small step
- dehumanization of others
- de-individualization of self (anonymity)
- diffusion of personal responsibility
- blind obedience to authority
