Yes there is a pub called The Elephant near the lock. Unfortunately, the landlord is dyslexic and has spelt it "T-H-E_O-X-F-O-R-D_A-R-M-S. Silly bugger, no wonder the punters can't find it...

I don't know much about animal related euphemisms, but I did once have a very naughty primate that needed regular punishing...
