I was at the book store today and I put my iPod on the counter while I was signing my slip and the clerk looked at my iPod to see what was playing. I felt mildly guilty that Nelly Furtado's "Somebody to Love" was playing on it and not Verde or Wagner, given that my clerk was 60 if she was a day.
I felt like she was judging me! Like if I'm a grad student, I should obviously be playing something either intellectual, bohemian, or both, not bouncing down the street to Republica or the BeeGee's!
Ugh I know exactly what you mean and yet it's so stupid to feel the way! The last thing worth being an elitist over is what someone uses for entertainment. You should be proud to have "Say it Right" playing in the background while you research your thesis!
Quick, post this on _trash, people need to fucking read it and get off their high horses before I go on a stabbing-forks-into-eyeballs spree; this applies to movies as well.
Exactly and even though I was a bit snobby I still didn't form a full-on judgement on someone because they thought Titanic was a cinematographic masterpiece.
(I have issues with Titanic so I always pick it when I want to be mean about a movie)
