Because I like to post about meaningless stuff

For years now, I have strongly believed that thematic names should only apply to pets and never to children. For example, back in high school I had a tutor who had four dogs named Barnum, Bailey, Chip, and Dale. Acceptable and cute. But children? Why would you force them to endure years of jokes followed by an eventual name change ( Read more... )

Hey! Let's turn this into an "I love Dane Cook" post!

Yeah, I would never name my children in obvious themes. Maybe after my favorite celebrities (just kidding) but never anything "commericial" I guess. Then again, I have no idea what I would name a girl. I guess I've only thought of boys names. Wait, since I love Bailey's Irish Cream should I name her Bailey?

We knew someone in college named Bailey (not sure how she spelled it). Perhaps we've discovered her parent's inspiration.

Yeah, seriously. I explained to Laura that most of the fifty comments didn't include me, let alone have anything to do with the post! Still, I'm happy to provide a forum for alleviating boredom :-) Go ahead and quote away....

Yeah, I knew her. She always hanging around Ben.

It's all good. I'm showing off my new Jim icon. *Note to self: Steal Heather's :Jim: Kill Me" icon.*

I'm getting ready to make a post of my own..eventually..soon...maybe today to provide what little entertainment I can.

Fair enough. Speaking of which, where is that story in the Bible, or where did it originate from?

It's not in the Bible, it's part of Hebrew/Jewish mysticism. Before Judaism because completely monotheistic, Yaweh was considered dual-gendered, and thus created both Adam and Lilith from the dust. Lilith refused to lie 'beneath' Adam during sex, and left Eden of her own voilition, instead choosing to bear children who were considered demons-- incubi and succubi. I've got sources, just not with me-- I can send you them when I get home.

Okay, because I've done a little bit of research on the story and alot of sources claim that it originated in a text dated to the Middle Ages, around 800 AD. Apparently the text was full of biblical proverbs that were later accepted by Jewish scholars in Germany. Actually, most of the proverbs seem to be anti-Jewish, with terrible portrayls of Jeremiah and David. Hopefully you've found some earlier and more concrete sources for the story, considering how much I like it, because I find this source a bit questionable.

I knew kids in high school named lexus and clarion, named after their respective places of conceivement (car and hotel). I also knew a girl named Rach who promised to give her friends a copy of a paper she wrote but didn't... but that's another story...

That's horrible! (the first story...the second is completely understandable).

Okay! I give up! Give me your email address. I can send you a copy of the paper that is 90% done. Honestly, I finished the paper on my work computer and the final version has been deleted.
