my hands are littered

with cuts and bruises

with stories and place

i know and have been to

so many things

no one will ever know

who needs friends and company when you've got matches and cigarettes and a dark rainy sky?

Endless blue has never seemed so far, as if I've taken twenty steps back. Close up the holes in my chest and maybe I can keep walking forward in the flood.

Whatever may hurt today, I can hope that when I awake will not hurt then. If I tell myself to keep looking for a blue sky, I will eventually reach one and forget everything else once I'm there.
