A Small Concern

I am disturbed by Illyria's new interest in having a pet. She is demonstrating great pertinacity on the subject. While I feel that this desire is in general a positive matter regarding any residual humanity that might remain - as unlikely as that is - I do have to question her choice of subjects.

My solace in this matter is that Spike has no ( Read more... )

my methodology and Spike's methodology differ greatly

That they do, lad, but you're right on one point. That bint isn't getting me as her plaything.

I'm glad to hear it. I do hope that she has disposed of that collar by now.

I appreciate your continuance of this project despite this issue. However, I fear that, before long, she may eat your clipboard.

Eat my clipboard? Perish the thought. Grown rather attached to this. Makes me feel all important-like.

Your little Jem and the Holograms wannabe ate another batch of petri dishes. The micro lab is like, totally fuming about it. They say that they're going to steal your whiskey until you get them new ones.

Sorry, Jem and the what?

I think that she is under the impression that those are some sort of snack food. Please let the lab technicians know that their equipment will be replaced. I'll make certain that it all is requisitioned tomorrow. There's no need for such drastic measures.

Jem and the Holograms???

Come on, Wes. They were like totally and truly outrageous. And one had pink hair. And I think the evil one had blue hair or something. Whatever.

Maybe you should like, teach her to eat real food, instead of glass, cause I bet that the petri dishes are completely not good for her complexion.

I fail to see what effect the glass would have on her complexion, but I do hope that she finds something more palatable as a snack. However, I suppose that there are worse things that she could be consuming.

In my day, when I wanted something, I got it. I am not used to having to be persuasive. Though I do not think I am that good at it, yet.

And I have grown quite fond of the petri dishes. Yes, please procure some more.

Illyria, as I've stated before, that is not how this world works. We work together, we do not seize and demand. Those who abuse their power are ultimately doomed to failure. Our history demonstrates this repeatedly. Again, I must remind you that this is not your world anymore.

I would hope that there are more palatable foods than petri dishes. However, it is a small thing and easily provided. Also, I must compliment you on your use of the word "please."

Well done. taco_geek April 27 2004, 14:01:27 UTC

That's it! Each time she do something right, compliment her. That's the best way to proceed. I can't believe she said "please". Maybe next time she'll say "thank you". She's learning manners! I told you that I believe in you. I know you can do this. You're so kind and patient with her. You're doing a wonderful job, Wes. Congratulation!

She shows little interest in flora thus far. I think her interest in the mineral kingdom is foremost in her mind. That, and her interest in Spike as a pet, which continues to concern me. However, I will consider it, and I thank you for your suggestion.

I have a suggestion too! If she's so interest in the mineral kingdom, maybe you could borrow some books about that at the library. That should keep her occupied and she'll learn something. Er...Can she read or does she need to learn that too?

Wherever is going on, I know Wes that she's learning a lot from you. And if she hadn't do more damage to you, maybe that's because you're her guide. She may also be fascinate by your wisdom. So am I. I so envy you. Those who search for wisdom doesn't find it and some other are born with that gift. Not fair...

I thought once that I did have wisdom. I erred. As time passes, I realize how little wisdom I truly have. If I was a wise man, circumstances might not be what they are. But I thank you for your kind words.

Isn't the beginning of wisdom understanding how little you know? (Or something like that....I'm definitely paraphrasing.) Don't lose heart. There are many that believe in you.
