So..next Saturday I will be going to Japan to visit my in-laws for a week or so, and toaccompany my wife and daughter back home. It will have been six weeks, which is a pretty long time, I've discovered ( Read more... ) -

Things I will do while my SO is out of town:
- Buy a tree for the backyard, to block the window of the new house behind us.
- Clean the #%$& house!
- Sleep late without fear of reprisal.
- Go out with friends (without fear of reprisal)
- Slowly browse electronics shops as long as I please.

Last week, we got the news that a well-known person at my workplace died. The weird thing was, he wan't at all well-known to me. I'm not sure if I ever met him. However, many of the more senior staff knew him. It's a weird experience when someone dies that you never knew. In case you didn't notice, I'm still bemoaning the loss of most of my personal free time to the new girl in my life. (or, as my mother in law calls her, o-hime-sama...princess). Ho-hum
Still haven't gotten around to installing Linux--too frustrating. But I'm hoping the frustrations now will pay off later, when Linux is what everyone uses. Someday. In the meantime, I managed to install 64-bit Windows.
I was still getting BSODs, thought, even after a clean install. Then I read about AMD 64s having memory timing problems with ( Read more... ) -
double going-away parties.
There's a person in my department at work who's leaving, because she got married and is leaving town, and even though we had a wedding-going-away party for her about a month ago, we're having another party next week, more specifically for the going-away part this time. How many going away parties do you need?

Think about the future....
Aaaaah, the end of another week. It feels sooo nice, like a warm bath. Two days to spend doing my own stuff. Or maybe mostly my wife's stuff. At least not work stuff.
