You have a VR6 with a 5 speed right? Check VWVortex. VR6 O2A's go for like 200-300 bucks on there.

Do you have jack stands, a metric socket set, and some tiedowns? It's not that hard to replace yourself. Transmissions are light (compared to the AWD ones I've replaced before at least. Never done the swap on at Corrado, but I've done it on an old GTI. The drivelines are all the same anyway, right? ;-)

Replacement in kind should be fairly straight forward. If you've got the space and tools, I say give it a go.
