morning musing

Ok, I get that this is a bad man and all, and this administration is all about drama and shock and awe and all that.

But did we really need to take a picture of this guy dead, blow it up to 300%, and put it in a golden frame?

Seriously, you make me shoot things out my nose. Spontaneously. I don't even have to be drinking the water, and you make it come out my nose.

Well... If you happen to check out Aljazeera, or most foreign press (particularly in the Middle East) they have no problems showing some horrifying scenes. Especially when it was caused by our forces. If there were more pictures of bloodshed and babies blown in half on our TV, I wonder how much stomach the American public would have for war. Frankly, our press is weak kneed, and this is pretty tame.

Most likely no one in the Middle East would believe we had killed Al-Zarqawi if we hadn't had some picture of him.

I would have preferred to see this is one of those refrigerator magnet frames, particularly one decorated with purple dolphins.

Oh, I'm not really disagreeing with the picture...more the weird presentation. Do we really need to put a post-mortem photo in a gilded frame with a two-inch beveled ivory border?

Wasn't trying to be political. I try to avoid that. This is, after all, a LIVEJOURNAL.
That said: just because they're doing it doesn't mean we have to retaliate. There's a way of showing the dead--yes, even our dead enemies--that's appropriate and not sensationalist. This is just creepy. And TACKY! Very tacky! A dark mahogany frame would have better suited his skin tone!!!!
Please note that I am joking.
