Famine, you're awesome. I was under the impression that ATI had mostly won the video card wars, but this is looking like a solid buy. One question: is there much/any difference between the different manfacturers? Or should I just pick the cheapest (seems like a bad idea)? Any further advice?

Reputable companies are usually what I go with, and I haven't been disappointed. Chaintech has been around a while and is near the cheapest you can get. Haven't personally had a card made by them, but I think they're ok.

Asus is usually a good buy.

My last few nvidia cards have all been nvidia reference cards. If you can check out the detailed specs, I recommend getting a card based on the reference design (it's manufactured to the specs that nvidia made, not to the specs this particular manufacturer changed it to).
