yeah, i just did a debate on file sharing and music rights. i think it's the doctrine of first sale and doctrine of exhaustion that gets tricky with this and then the argument over intellectual or physical property for copyright; basically whether rights pertain to something once it is intentionally put out into the open and then something that can't be physically obtained, like an MP3. Uh. yeah. fuckers.
It's just weird that they're going after TABS for chirtsake. Like, tabs are never, EVER actually legitemitley correct music, it's basically just people with semi-average ear trainging that figured out what they think might be how a particular song goes. It's also how most musicians learn how to play different styles of music, because when beggining you can't expect anyone to be able to figure out a song by ear themselves. Plus, I know for a fact that if tabs were not available most people would rather find someone that can teach it to them or just plan not learn it at all than go out and buy a whole freakin book when they only want to learn one song.
I can see where someone's coming from for the argument with MP3s, but I find this completley anal and obnoxious.
