lol That was so Mal. "You want babies? I'll give you babies". I could see that happening. I didn't know Zoe would be so forthcoming with the infomation. -shrugs- She must want babies REALLY BAD.

So you were saying that you don't like Wash/Zoe so much, why's that?

Thanks for reading! Yeah, I pretty much think if Zoe wanted babies before, a few years later the need would be really strong in her. So she gets them - in an unexpected way :).

I do like Wash/Zoe, and Mal/Inara but for some reason don't feel the need to write them b/c I think the show does a pretty good job with both couples. Fic is a great place to explore the unexplored, I guess that's why I'm drawn to the more non-canon stuff (River/Jayne, anyone?) than the canon.

Thanks so much again for leaving fb!! I hope to write lots more Zoe/Mal, and more importantly, I hope a *LOT* of people write more Zoe/Mal, b/c I'd leave to read tons more of this genre.

You know, I don't like babyfic. I find the idea of anyone but Simon and Kaylee (and AU Wash/Zoe) having kids a little dumb - because I simply don't think any of the crew will live that long.

Now before you start thinking I'm a ginormous bitch - I LOVED this story. It was very true to character - Zoe would make a wonderful mother, and that instinct is very strong in her. Mal would, of course, want Zoe by his side forever, and if babies'll keep her alive, then so be it. And oh, the way Inara went out - very much what I see for the character, an out of the blue death that hits Mal like a kick in the jaw.

I loved your dialogue, and I loved the way Zoe gets all confused when Mal goes all "you want babies, I'll give you babies". Great story - looking forward to seeing more of your work.

I completely know what you mean about babyfic - I am a babyfic hater in many a fic verse and I see your point about the crew living short lives, too short for children - but Zoe's wanting babies made me think *that* is what she wants to live for, that's her future. That's the one thing that would console her after Wash, give her purpose. But where would she get a baby? This story's my answer to that question.

yeah, but that's what they are all about. These people are trying to live their lives despite the crummy chances life gave em. They keep living despite all odds. I think it's in character for them to decide to have children, even against reason. And Zoe wantin Babies is even canon.

You have a way of grabbing emotions that aren't easily verbalized and making it so simple. What a beautiful gift! Please keep sharing it.
