The volcano is some distance away since all we felt of it was some rather violent tremors. The ash has been around for a few days.

Really! Quite a relief, that -- I suppose it's not terribly hard to tell, though, the city's lacking that "just been covered in molten rock" look to it. Still, a bit dangerous, isn't it, all this ash? I don't suppose the city even comes close to having adequate supplies to deal with that.
