Well! Nighttime, is it -- bit dark, at least. Wasn't entirely what ( Read more... )

Another one? Then why don't I--

You've been here before? And you remember?

Oh, hard to forget, really -- a place like this.

Well. You'd think so, anyway, but it seems I did once. Funny, that, but I s'pose one might chalk it up to time being the way it is, yeah?

I see... I didn't remember when I came back. I didn't know I was here. But some people said...

Oh, well, I'm sure it's nothing to worry over. Seems to happen a lot, if I remember right -- people coming and going and the sort.

You are far too cheerful for someone who has returned here.

Am I! I suppose I should apologise, then, shouldn't I? Well. Maybe. Bit unusual, though, isn't it -- apologising for being cheerful.

I don't need an apology, but why would you not, well... you know, dread being here?

Dread? Really? Strong word, I think, it's not quite so bad. Well. Compared to other worlds. It's the not leaving I think I'd be likely to dread more than anything.

Is it only me, or are you not really bothered by having returned?

Oh, does it sound that way? Well, that might not be too far off, though I have to say I really...really wasn't expecting it.

You and everyone else. I hardly think anyone would come here on their own accord, you know.

Well, I wouldn't be quite sure about that, really. Those -- what were they, again, scientists? Bit cliche, really, scientists in a place like this, all we're missing is the Doomsday Device-- well, those Scientists likely have quite a reason for bringing people here, rather than sending themselves somewhere else.

Well, here comes trouble.

Back again?

Oh, talk about trouble! Still here, then, are you?

Seems so, though, well. It looks like things have changed quite a bit -- how long has there been a volcano 'round here?

Oh, indeed, they can hardly see fit to let me leave. I must be such a well-liked guest in their oh-so-honoured city.

The volcano is some distance away since all we felt of it was some rather violent tremors. The ash has been around for a few days.

Well, an infamous troublemaker like you, I'm sure they thought keeping you 'round would be loads of fun. Oodles, even.

Really! Quite a relief, that -- I suppose it's not terribly hard to tell, though, the city's lacking that "just been covered in molten rock" look to it. Still, a bit dangerous, isn't it, all this ash? I don't suppose the city even comes close to having adequate supplies to deal with that.
