I think I got purling! It is super-difficult and fumbly with this thicky nubbly red stuff, but its so pretty it's worth it. Then, when I use smooth yarn I will be that much quicker

Heeehee, I love you. I owe you a response to a post a while ago, where you talked about our friendship. I didn't forget about it ;) I hope all is well! xxxxo
They can be bought at le chainon, which is next to parc des ameriques on the east side of st. laurent above marie anne. Go upstairs (its a big second-hand store) and next to the counter you'll find a jar of them for like 1-2 dollars per set! or, the dollar store!
Yay purling! I just learned how to purl too, but I'm not very good at it yet. I bought a crocheted hat today from this awesome woman at a little street fair, and I mentioned to her that I've been knitting a bit, and I just learned how to purl and was really excited about it. She laughed at me. It wasn't mean, but more like "oh how cute, she has NO idea what she's doing."
ha! yeah, sometimes it seems like real knitters don't even remember learning, let alone what its like to be a novice. although some of my friends have been awesome coaches and really proud of my first projects. i even got a random girl to compliment my scarf (the first thing i made) and when i told her i knitted it she started saying how good my tension was, etc... man, i'm s sucker for knitted flattery.
Yeah, I started a ribbed scarf but it was with super fuzzy curly yarn and really hard to see the ribs (and it curled even though i knit the end of each row!) so i took it out and think i might make a big fuzzy drop stitch scarf instead... fuzz!

PS. I washed you pillow (the one that you left here in January? or August?). It's really nice, and stain free now.
