ok, so i let my email be available in my userinfo. big mistake. i had to change my availability today coz i just checked my email for the 1st time in a while and i got all these crazy emails from girls telling me i was killing my baby and defying god's will or love, etc. one girl even sent me a fetal development calander to show me what my baby

I'm so sorry that happened!!

I was on the bus heading to work two days ago...and there were protesters outside the planned parenthood place...

I've never seen protesters here before..and the huge sign saying "abortion is murder' really upset me...I wanted to break the sign over that persons head...good thing I was on the bus...

We do our best to keep this community a safe place. Lately our occurence of trolls have been exceptionally low. However, as a community we decided to not have the default security setting be friends only. You can still make your entries friends only, and then only the community members can read them. We decided not to default it, because there are women out there who read this community without joining, and gain support just from reading the stories and knowing they are not alone.

I'm terribly sorry that this happened. It's horrible that people stoop to such things. It is upsetting, and I wish there were more I could do to stop them. Typically, unless you've already had the abortion, it is best to make your entries friends only to avoid this type of thing. I will add this warning to the user info in hopes this doesn't happen to someone else.

In addition to what musicmz said, if any of the e-mailers have an LJ, it would be nice to ban them so they can't join, if you're forwarding one of us the e-mails so that we can make sure all of our contact info is listed in our userinfo.

I second that idea, if we can forward the emails to lj_abuse, and let them know some users are being harrassed. mabye they can look into it.

I had something similar happen to me.

Except it dealt with my phone number. Basically, at my college, we have directories, so you can get in contact with anybody who lives on campus etc etc.

I participated in a pro choice rally on campus, and somehow, this girl knew my name. She called up my dorm and started to leave messages about how I "murdered" and how she would "call the cops" if they knew I murdered a baby. *big eye roll* I contacted the dean of student affairs, and lets just say that this girl has a huge big red mark on her record and cant attend any CT state universities.

I've been in the same boat as you, I know how you feel. Just delete them all. Its useless to read, because, as I say, whats done is done. Unless they have some massive time machine, all the emails do is annoy people.

They don't want to support. That's not their trip. They get off on hurting other people - the righteousness and smiting of the wicked thing.

I have nothing but contempt for that kind of crap.

Oh yeah - it's totally different if it's them.

Though to be fair, some do admit they were wrong when they find themselves in that situation.
