Oh my gosh, I cried watching those videos.... it reminded me of the protestors when I got mine. they ripped my boyfriend's clothes trying to keep him away from me and then egged his car.
Thank you for sharing your story. You are very strong and it's a great example to set for other women. I had Sprite and pretzels too :)
Thats HORRIBLE what they did. They can ruin private property and emotionally abuse people but it's all good as long as they aren't aborting a child right? Ugh. I can't stand people like that.
I'm so sorry. The really obnoxious woman from the videos, Angela Michael, is very careful not to break the law. I almost wish she had hurt me, so I could hurt her back... but I'm trying not to think that way.
Did you press charges against the protestors who did that to you and your boyfriend?
Thank you. Telling my grandparents was the best thing I've ever done. They're my legal guardians and have almost always been my parent-figures. They're Catholic, but pro-choice (as I found out), and absolutely wonderful people.
As I wrote in my journal that day: ...Telling my grandparents about my abortion was actually probably the best thing I have ever done
( ... )
That really got me too, that her Grandad went with her. How comforting it must be to have a man not just in your life but in your family who you know you can count on.
Actually, I was fortunate in many ways. Both my boyfriends, all my friends, and every family member but my mother was 100% supportive and all offered to go with me.
My grandparents said "That's what family is FOR," and I wish all families were like that about their daughters' and granddaughters' abortions. :(
Wow, seriously, just wow, I knew protesters could be nutjobs at the best of times, but they're a whole different dimension of fruit (and I've had mental health problems! ;) Just remember - people like that, they have very little love in their pathetic lives - they must have serious issues to spit venom at people at a difficult point in their lives - they'd probably kill for a grandfather like yours and his love.
I really wish I had your strength - you really have a lot of courage - I would have wanted to physically assault those bastards. It was lovely to read about your grandfather's support, he sounds like a really lovely guy. Words can indeed hurt but I'm sure the counselling will work out for you. Think of the anger towards them as a roaring fire - it's raw, painful, intense, angry - but it eventually stops, leaves a lot of space and clears the way for new things.
Thank you for sharing, have a safe and speedy recovery. x x
It's hard to keep yourself from taking a swing at those protestors. God, they are so insensitive and horrible. I saw this guy once who tried to hold the passenger-side door of a car closed so that a woman couldn't get out. WTF??
As always, thanks so much for sharing this... I'm glad you spoke up!

That's false imprisonment and it's completely illegal.
I wish more people enforced their rights.
