It'd felt very Pretty Woman, she in the black dress and stilettos, and doesn't take much for Kate to figure he expects to get laid for his troubles.
Lol, creeper Desmond. I love how you call him out on that. He managed to creep in every possible definition of the word: hanging out in schools, stalking pregnant ladies, stealing coffins, hooker-ifying Kate.
expertly hotwired, and Kate's impressed. Maybe even a little turned on
Love it!
I also love Kate's dream, with him on the sidelines on the island, always caring about her but not being insistently in her business. God, I love them. This was absolutely delightful, so quietly, fantastically them. Screw the light and the afterlife; I really liked the sideways as a regular old alternate universe, so I like that you had them just continue living in it. This was beautifully written. It's really put me in a slightly better mood! <3

Lol, creeper Desmond.
Maybe I should have made it clearer, but that wasn't Desmond :/ I love Desmond! Nah, Kate scooted away from Des while he was preoccupied with the Oceanic coffin; creeper was just a random someone she hitched a ride with ;) But yes, the dress from Desmond was very hooker-ish! And totally not Kate. At all.

I did too! I loved the sideways and it will always be real in my head.
Thanks so much for the kind words. I'm glad this worked for you, and you felt it was true to Kate and Sayid. :)

anywhere but the island, even though they don't know yet that that's also what they're running from. I love that - thanks for picking up on that ;)

I also am a sucker for the sideways world, I like the idea of it being real.

it creates elaborate imagery and sense of time without being top-heavy.
Thank you - because this was what I was the most unsure of while writing. I knew I wanted to do the time progression, but worried it might have come across as too forced or heavy-handed. I'm delighted you liked the little details.
And the Patsy Cline - it's such a Kate!cliche, but I just cannot help myself ;)
Thank you for such a lovely comment. I'm so very glad you enjoyed!
