Gone fishin'

In about 10 hours I'm going to be on a plane headed to San Antonio, Texas. You know, the really big state right next to Mexico? I'm going away for a few days to hang out with a friend, get some rest, get my head on straight, maybe see some dumb tourist stuff like the Alamo, which I only just found out was in San Antonio ( Read more... )

Hehe your title reminded me of Tokyo Breakfast. "If anyone call for your grandpa..."

Anyhow, hope you have a fun and safe trip!

I agree, the alamo is awesome, and theres of tons history wrapped up in SanAn, if you like that sort of nerdy stuff. I live only a couple hours away, and visit pretty often.

Nifty. Born and raised in the area, myself. Not a bad place to live, though my g/f often reminds me that it isn't New England, either. Few bits & pieces of history down here, but not too much--lots & lots of development. Pretty big military town, too.

Been a while since I went to the Alamo--the area's really focused in tourists, w/ a fair number of shops & whatnot about. And you'll get to see one of the birthplaces of Texas independence, as well as a locale for an infamous drunken rockstar incident. :) Y'know, with as much of a touristy draw there is to downtown S.A. (& ways to try to make a buck off of tourists), part of me is surprised that they didn't mark the spot where it happened & started to charge admission. :)

Oh, and supposedly, it's cold down here right now (as cold as it can get in south central Texas, that is). Fair number of places to dine & drink along the Riverwalk. Not as party-hardy as say Austin's 6th Street, from what I've been told, but not bad, either.
