I remember when that song came out, I thought, "Motorin'? What the hell?" Then they repeated it numerous times to show how cool they thought they were or something. Even my 12-year old self figured they were dorky. Hee.
Great... now it is in mine.. I actually like that music tho...
I did experience something horrible at the gym.. They had the station tuned to some dance music channel (horrible in and of itself).. but to make it worse, Britney Spears was torturing the hell out of an old hair band classic. Thankfully... I have been successfull in excising it from my head so that I can't even tell you what song it was.
What is it with the neverending abuse of classic songs?absintheJuly 19 2006, 20:00:27 UTC
A while back I found myself at an unfamiliar bar for a friend's birthday, and having a very hard time handling the pop/dance/whateveryoucallit music selection. Then, out of nowhere came the beginning of "Tainted Love." (Arguably not the band's best song, but I DO love me some Soft Cell.) I immediately unclenched my teeth with this incredible aural improvement. But wait! It was trickery, for that was not Soft Cell at all, but some obnoxious pop starlet singing over the familiar beat. I almost had to leave. We shortly moved on to our bar of choice. Whew.
Fast forward a few days to a friend's choreography/dance performance. The evening featured an assortment of short student pieces. But! Some of his fellow students had arranged their performance around that very song! OH NO. It was some sort of bizarre pirate/harlot/bumping&grinding traumatizing shit.

yes... it is horrible when the song you love ...has been tainted.
I've heard that mix too... it is beyond terrible. It is worse than when vanilla ice ripped off Queen's music (Under Pressure) for his anthem.. ice ice, baby.
they've been assaulting alot of the old classics.. what really rankles me, tho, is when these talentless bubble-gum popping slutty corporate music whores (like britney, ashley simpson, that girl that thinks she's punk... the one that did the abyssmal "skater boi") start reaching back to the old stuff and twisting it horribly.
It is as bad as when the talentless rap "artists" steal background riffs (like vanilla ice) for thier own "music"... or they take the basic song and do the pop diva screaching-using-notes-that-never-before-existed thing to it, adding their own lyrics... or... when axle rose sings ANYTHING (he deserves to die for what he did to live and let die).
ok, I'll stop now... I am still on a runner's high from my lunch run.
