I was pointed this direction after making this post in my journal.. I didn't know about this community previously. Sweet.

There was a community a bunch of my friends belonged to -- it was batshitcrazies (not sure if that'll show up, but whatev). The community was about, well, batshitcrazy people on LiveJournal. I wasn't a part of it, but I've heard -- the ( Read more... )

It doesn't sound at all surprising to me that that community was suspended, since harrassment is against the TOS and LJ Abuse have a very broad definition of what constitutes harrassment, but that murder comment does sound a bit fucked up... :/

If the people in that community were participating in anything that fell under the "broad definition of what constitutes harrassment", they could easily suspend every snark/venting/bitching community on LiveJournal under that same umbrella.

That said, I didn't care so much about the community suspension until the murder thing was said to not be violating TOS. That's when I got incredulous.

LJ's definition of harassment and the legal definition of harassment are as similar as blue cheese salad dressing and an elephant flying to Mars.

elgorgo was threatened with a shotgun murder and abuse did nothing. don't expect them to be anything resembling consistent.

I didn't even realize this was a pervasive problem with their consistency until seeing this community. Shitty.

Damn that is crazy about this "Now, there's another girl (one who's not on my friends list but who posts to a community we both belong to) recently had an ex-girlfriend of someone find her journal, post threatening comments saying she's going to kill her daughter and even went so far as to photoshop an icon of the girl's baby with a bullethole in the baby's forehead and coupled it with another threatening-to-murder comment.. The girl complained to LJ Abuse and was told, After investigating the material you provided, we have determined that we are unable to assist you at this time, as no violations of the LiveJournal Terms of Service are evident.

Do what now?"

Wow. I've reported some communities to LJ abuse before but now I see they really don't do anything to monitor these situations!

I meant to say, I just reported only one community but I see it's a waste of time!
