So I'm not really part of Marvel fandom and really not at all familiar with the comics. But I just read a spoiler for the next movie and ( I'm confused )

Okay, huge Marvel reader/fan from way back, the explanation for the comic book set up is lengthy and confusing. On the other hand I suspect that Avengers 2: Age of Ultron is going to be the set up for why Tony would back such a plan in the movie verse. Guilt is Tony's thing in both canons, and that'll be the basis for the stance he takes.

Could be. I guess it's all a matter of waiting to see what happens.

Definitely! Lord knows that Marvel Studios knows how to add an extra interesting twist to the stories they choose to adapt for the big screen.

I've seen some discussion on tumblr that Variety, which released this, did not have actual confirmed sources themselves. It's been fan speculation that they would try and do Civil War, and Marvel comics rebooting it seems to have fanned those flames. But the Cap 2 writers said in an interview recently that they didn't think Civil War was even possible to do in the MCU they way they've set things up. They certainly can't do it as a straight adaptation of the civil war storyline. So I'll believe it when Marvel Entertainment says it.

Honestly, given the stuff they've hinted at in Agents of SHIELD and Guardians of the Galaxy, I'd bet on a variant of Secret Invasion for Phase 3 and 4 over Civil War.

Yep - what splashie said - there was a 24 hour internet panic and then it got debunked.

Aw, 24 hour internet panics are kinda adorable. I will stop being confused I guess - not that it was eating a lot of brain space.

Ah, so fandom panic over nothing then. Fair enough.

Wait, Guardians of the Galaxy is in the same universe also? I am getting very confused about what is what (I also need to get better at actually seeing the damn movies....)
