I sell what I can on amazon/half and donate the rest to the library.

when I moved house recently I disposed of 10% of my books - that's quite a good start, (so can buy more!!!)- but I just got rid of stuff I knew I would never read again, - I kept most of the non-fiction, as often I like to look stuff up. I took the books to a hospital that sells them to visitors or patients for extra funds. (whatever you do don't burn them ... (remember Fahrenheit 451..) anne

Depends on what they are, I've donated novels and such, but recycle old text books and computer manuals and such.

I have an entire shelf of literature books from college that I can't seem to part with. The rest of my library has evolved and changed over the years, with the exception of that one shelf. I have a policy of "one book in, one book out" so that my collection keeps revolving without becoming huge and cumbersome. But when I have to get rid of books enmass, I take them to a used bookstore for credit (to buy even more books), and whatever they don't want I give to the library.

I never get rid of books. The thought alone makes me feel weird.
