More medical nonsense

Well, I spent Saturday evening (23 February) in the ER. I woke up on Saturday with a pain in my right side, right next to my ribs, and I figured it was another kidney stone. So I got talked into to taking it to the ER. Well, it turns out it's just a UTI (urinary tract infection), not a stone, and they gave me antibiotics for it. And now I've seen a ( Read more... )

Last week, my friend S went to the Urgent care after spending a terribly painful night curled up - she assumed she had a UTI (that came on especially quickly) - but by the time she got to the doctor, it had gone away - so they think she actually had a small kidney stone that passed sometime early in the morning while she was waiting for Urgent Care to open.

Glad your pain is less and you are recovering!

I never had any problems with UTIs when I was younger. I never had a kidney stone in my life before last April, and the consequences of the treatment I got for that included congestive heart failure, atrial fibrillation, a small stroke, and losing 60 lb over a 3-month span. Now all of a sudden I'm having all these things go wrong, and it's annoying. But, yes, thank you, I am recovering - that's something I've always been good at. I just hope I feel well enough to participate the time I get my next t'ai chi lesson!

My sympathies. I've been battling yet another E coli UTI with massive doses of Macrobid. This is my third one this year and I'm just sick of this neurogenic bladder bullshit.

Hope you feel better soonest!

They didn't tell me what kind of bacteria I have, but they gave me Ceftin, which is pretty broad-spectrum, and the infection does seem to be diminishing, although I still don't feel 100%. I have to have a CT scan, an ultrasound, and some blood work done on Monday. But the only other times I've ever had UTIs were back when I was in college and on "the Pill". I hope you recover quickly too!
