I might be wrong, but i think Mardi Gras was supposed to be your week to get all the sinful stuff out of your system, all of your vices like sex and drinking and gambling or whatever. I'm not sure which religion started it, i would guess the Chatholics just because all major Christian holidays seem to come from them.

Anyway, you know how people, after a distaster, say things to make themselves feel better like, "Well, at least we can look on the bright side." I think this guy said "Well, at least we can look at my asshole." Because he is one.

The truth of the mater is, the catholics ganked it from the romans, and claimed that it was because there would be an uprising if the catholics took it away. They incorporated it into their catholic rituals, such as lent. Which isnt surprising because easter (the main wonderful even on catholocism) was ganked as well. It was really a ritual celebrating life and renewal, started by followers of the god eostre.
