I was all "cute" on the final picture before I saw the leg. The #1 problem I'd have in third world countries is the lack of animal control/neutering. The USA had a bad enough problem but when I went to Belize there were massive amounts of starving dogs in the streets, it made me want to kill myself. Dogs aren't wild animals, they're domesticated, and most just suck ass in the wild - they need people to survive.
You should totally Digg that last picture, it's both depressing and hilarious at the same time.
And for what it's worth, a girl from China is also going to be in my class. And apparently she's not rich Chinese, since she mentioned she got a butt-load of financial aid and is still hungry for scholarships. Though considering she's coming to Hampshire, she's almost certainly not a Chinese nationalist.
What's the Chinese-Nepal relationship? Does China want to take over that too?
I agree that the dead animals everywhere are really sad, especially the dogs, because we've made them to suit us, and as you say, in the process we've stripped them of the ability to live independently, so when we ignore them it's doubly sinful ...but up here I've run into what have to be the happiest dogs in the universe.
As for China and Nepal, I don't quite know. China's certainly in the position of power, and certainly covetous of the himalayas' potential hydroelectric bounty...what I do know is that most people agree that Nepal's toked, what with their governmental issues, and with it being squished between the world's two largest nations, one that's exploding population-wise and another that's just a plain-old evil empire. I'm the wrong person to ask. I do know that Chinese and Tibetans alike seemed to disdain the nepali people.
And yeah, throne of bhaal belonged to Shane, what was I thinking, maybe better check that I gave you anything back at all...later on...
I dunno, and don't be jealous...but the camera's name is Nikon L1. I liked it a lot at first but we're kinda on the outs right now, honestly. It's my fault--I burned out the light meter or something in Antarctica, so on automatic things look really washed out and on some settings the purples come through way too strong...also, it's full of sand somehow so the moving parts don't move. But no complaining, it works and all. Are you in the market for a new camera or something? (and when is school over?)
