I don't think we spend $500 a month on groceries either, and we are 2 adults and two weeks with a kid (Nyx is here for two weeks, and back at her mom's for 2 more weeks). I think we spend about $300 a month, everything factored in, like the small trips to the store to grab one or two things.

Do you guys eat out at all? I think this is factoring in that we won't be eating out AT ALL. My friend said she used to get food stamps, and they had lots of rules about "hot and ready" food. Like you can get chicken breasts, but you can't get a rotisserie chicken, because that's too much like fast food.

It's possible the chart I was looking at was incorrect, but either way, I have been budgeting about $60 a week at the grocery (which includes paper products and toiletries, etc).

We do eat out, probably once a week. But we also keep staples stocked up in our house, and usually buy one or two staple things we need each paycheck to make sure we have a good supply.
