What's this? Not a meme?

Yes, I actually have original stuff to put here. It seems like a long time since I have done that.

This weekend saw the Emerald City Comicon. I'll put the rundown behind a cut for you.

We began the journey on Friday, which was was necessary since we had to get all the way to Seattle, and that wasn't even our final destination. Our friend kklasha has a sister not too far out of the city, and we were graciously given sleeping space at her house. This was handy since we were also there for her birthday party. I have to say that I have never really been to a party quite like it. The fact that the power went out earlier in the day made for a nice atmosphere. It's a lot of fun getting to know a whole group of people in the dark. I think everyone had a good time there.

Getting to the Con on the Saturday proved difficult. We didn't even get everyone out of bed until after 10, and it's over an hour drive to Seattle from where we were staying. Still, we managed to get there for the last three hours of the day. Getting my hair right proved a challenge. I'm not sure what they used on Hugh Jackman in the movies, but it must have been good. I do find it funny that it took that long to get my hair like that, because it doesn't seem like Logan would ever spend more than a few seconds on his personal appearance. Badass characters typically don't seem that big on grooming, yet several seem to pull of crazy hairstyles no matter what. I do like the idea a superhero hairdressers.

Overall, we actually only spent a good five to six hours at the con. It wasn't like the anime cons we usually go to that have entertainment and video rooms. It really was all crowded into one giant space. I was surprised at the number of webcomic artists they had there. I bought a book from the guys that make Penny Arcade. One of them even brought his son along, who was doing his own drawings for people.

I was very pleased that I managed to get my picture taken with Jewel Staite, even if it cost me 30 USD. It was worth it. I'll have to frame that, or at least get a binder for things like that.

A lot of people were really impressed with my claws. I didn't think that I had made them overly well, but it turns out a lot of people really liked them. I even found a few other X-Men to get a shot with. There was also a Deadpool there on the first day that was playing his part really well. I'll have to get some of the pics sent to me so I can post them here.

I think we all had a good time on this trip. There's something about bombing down the highway singing Avenue Q songs with a group of friends that's just special. Now I can't wait until AE.

On the note of AE, it looks like we've assembled ideas for costumes for the two days. One day looks like we'll do costumes from Avatar, the other random fighting games. Still lots of time to make changes if we want.
