But I am moving to Budapest next week, and trying calm the "I won't know anybody in the whole city" nerves by stalking interesting Budapest-dwellers on LJ.
And then I found you and, well, wow! It sounds like you have this incredibly fascinating research project. I'd love to pick your brains about it some day, because I've sometimes touched on some similar areas.
My academic background is in Sanskrit, and in particular my undergraduate dissertation was on Tantric Buddhism, and how it mixed the tropes from different intellectual and popular traditions. Mythology was always at a slight tangent to that, and I regret never getting more into it. But I'm fascinated by trying to understand what makes people believe what they believe, and getting to grips with mythological archetypes sounds like a crucial part of that.
As for the narratives in computer games: well, I've just quit my job working on the game RuneScape, and so I have a fair few thoughts on storytelling in
