I'm done with the BARGE list, unsubcribing after something like 10 years.

People respond more to the troll than ever before, and a kill file won't work when people continue to quote bits in their own emails. Since it's clear that people won't stop responding, I'm done with it. Perhaps I'll resubscribe as it gets closer to BARGE again, but maybe

I lasted about a month. It's too "insidery" for me. That's fine if that is the function people want. I'm not complaining. It's just not outsider friendly and, as you say, it's highly polluted with crap.

Yeah it can be that. It's better once you go to BARGE, but the list has long since served any useful purpose for me and I get more out of people's blogs and facebook.

wow..i just got the 2 digests from today. Another Barger personally attacked by the troll signs off. Now you sign off and Spencer may do the same. I think its time for a one person moderation policy.

The line was crossed when the idiot was allowed to register as someone else. Bozofilters are one thing, but the signal to noise ratio is just stupid right now.

Actually for me the line was crossed when he posted in his "trip report" about my then girlfriend (now wife) wanting to "get on the table and spread her legs for him" after he beat me in a pot.

Yeah right, he only makes personal attacks on people who attack him first. As if anyone who knows my wife would think she'd ever make a personal attack on *anyone*. I was talked out of smashing his face in the next time he attended. I regret that I didn't now, and hopefully the people who talked me out of it do too.

He was banished from the list once, and then people moaned about his "freedom to speak". Well fuck that, it's a private list and I don't want to hear it. So I'm voting with my virtual feet.
