Ah, cunning plan, with the numbers and all.

I loved this, its hurts and its promises. Loved the images of the pirate crew, the gladiator ships, the whipping and the jealousy of Liathan.

If you ever write more I will come and worship.

ha! yeah, I was like, "how do I get a lot of this story down in only a few words?" and then I was like, "I'LL NUMBER THE SCENES."

I'm glad that you like this, though! I wish I'd had more of a chance to fill in the blanks, but maybe in the future, when life is less crazy.

I was hoping someone would do an AU with that pic! I admittedly have a thing for hurt!Marcus, so I am ALL OVER THIS. I love how their situations echo canon, but that Marcus is much more in the position of the slave here. And how his feelings for Esca become so complicated, all tangled with hate and grudging respect and desire. It's such an intriguing verse that you've built here.

Victory is almost yours--just one more round to go!

I'm glad! I looked at the prompts and I was like, "do I want to write about airships? WHO AM I EVEN KIDDING." I totally always give in to my self-indulgent desires.

thank you so much! I am happy that this works for you. and I am so excited to write for the final round! this challenge has been such a pleasure.

I normally try not to read AUs, but the airships lured me in.
I like all the snippets and the progression of the story that they imply.
Plus, the number of words makes this leet by default.

But why is Liathan often shown as pure evil or general no-good in fanfics? D: Does that characterization stem from the novel (I haven't read it yet)?

thanks! I have to say, I'm not sure about liathan in general - in this case it was just convenience. he's one of the only other named characters who's not roman, and in the movie the seal prince isn't exactly a great guy. I doubt it's anything more complicated than that, really.
