[ now elena's even more worried. ]

Caroline, are you okay? Where are we?

They're - who? Who's going to think who took me?

[ long pause. ]

Who took me before?

[ well, a few people, but from the sound of things this happened pretty recently. elena's quiet for another moment or two, and then she speaks up again. whatever caroline's referring to, she wants to know about it, but it doesn't sound like an over-the-medieval-kindle conversation. ]

Where are you?

[Audio]

[ a pause, and then: ]

What? No, I...I don't. Who are they? And where did they take me?

A trap? [ panic rises in her voice. this is not the first time elena's been kidnapped and probably won't be the last, but the previous circumstances were much different than this. for one thing, there weren't wings. ]

I don't understand. Why did they take me? What do they want?

[voice] - she needs more friends

[loyalotter]

You must be a New Feather. Are you out in the woods near anything, a lake or something? And is anyone else coming for you yet?

[Normally, she's not the go-get type all the time, but she really understands the kidnapping thing. She's been here too long not to care.]

[voice] yay hermione!

[adeadringer]

A New Feather? [ pause. ] Oh...right. That fits, I guess.

[ there's some rustling as she moves through the woods, trying to look out for a landmark she can tell the person on the other end she's near. ]

Yeah, there's a lake nearby. I can see it through the trees. [ another pause. ] There's someone I know here, but I don't know where she is yet.

[voice] witch to the rescue?

[loyalotter]

It's what we call people who are new. [pause.] Are your wings all right, aside from sore?

[she waits just a little bit.] If you'd like, I'm on shift at the Welcome Center. I can come get you and take you there so you can wait for her. My name is Hermione Granger, by the way.

[voice] hell yeah!

[adeadringer]

They're heavy, but I guess that's something you get used to. [ pause. ] Does everybody here have them?

I'm Elena. Elena Gilbert. [ sounding extremely grateful: ] Are you sure? If you could, that would be great. I'd try getting around myself, but I'm not sure how far I can go. [ some audible shivering, accompanied by teeth chattering. ]

[ new feathers. buffy started out with chipperness -- but soon left that behind in favour of to-the-point, efficient handling. no one wanted anyone to catch frostbite. ]

I don't see a village anywhere, though.
