Another computer question

Jul 11, 2007 16:32

My university email account is shortly to be deactivated - *sob*. Can anyone tell me how I can save the contents of my inbox somewhere else so I don't lose all the useful stuff I've collected? It's Microsoft Outlook Web Access that we use...

Or better still, a gmail account.

Is there a way I can send it all in bulk? It'll take a long time if I have to forward every mail individually.

If it's using OWA, then there's a good chance that it can be replicated to an Outlook PST file using something called RPC over HTTPS, if you have access to Microsoft Outlook 2003 or later and are prepared to run it... or, if you prefer, to an Evolution client on Windows (98, 2000, XP), Linux or OS X.

You might have to talk me through that one in a bit more detail...

Do you run Outlook 2003-or-later on Windows, or Evolution? Or, alternatively, earlier versions of Outlook that I can export to and stick a PST on a CD?

Is your account going to survive until Year of the Teledu, or are you going to need talking through it before then? If I can show you at YotT, it'll be a lot easier.

It might still be active at YotT - I'll try to find the right person to ask. I think it would be a lot easier with you showing me, too! Thanks :-)
