There is some really bad medicine in 24.

I know, the medical content is very minor and doesn't detract from the overall thing (and I'm sure there are technical aspects I don't notice that are also completely ridiculous), but last night all of us yelled at the tv as the paramedic put both of the defib paddles (after shocking someone) IN THE SAME

I did have to think for a second before realising why that would be a Bad Idea.

At least you realise it's a bad idea :-)

Yep, I have the capacitance to hold that knowledge.

You'd be amazed by the number of people who have resistance to common sense.

What do you think of "House"?

It's not very realistic, but it's good fun. Most of the medical stuff is presented in a vaguely plausible manner, and certainly makes a change from "collapse ?cause", "chest pain" and "?early appendicitis"...

I guess that it only has to look reasonable to the bulk of the population....

Have you seen the Mitchell & Webb sketch about the scriptwriters who think drama is more important than accurate research when writing a medical drama?

Clearly this is the universe where ruptured spleens magically heal themselves and the patient doesn't lose their entire blood volume into their abdomen...

You mean, "What not to do with defib paddles" or "Crap medicine on our tv" generally?

The Crap Physics on TV talk/discussion was well attended and fairly raucous. Some suggested we needed a Crap Biology on TV one too.

I could do a crap medicine on tv one, I suspect: might need some suggestions for programmes to pick apart, though. Probably Casualty/Holby City would be the easiest to tear to shreds.
Would anyone want a serious programme item on CPR/first aid, assuming I could get hold of enough kit? Do most fans already know CPR?
