No...not THAT Saxon Dress
Well, I've decided that my next project (for myself) will be a Saxon gown from around the 1530's-40's (still narrowing it down). I was just looking over pictures that I took at The Costume Colloquium in Italy in 2008 and I realize just how little I knew then! If I knew then what I know now, I would have asked so many more questions! I need new garb!
Now that I am back in So Cal and can play again, I really need new garb. Since money is tight because of the move, I need to use fabric I already have. Luckily I have some fabric that isn't buried in the back of storage. I have a lovely brown wool for a dress and some okay orange wool that I can trim it with. Smocking with beads
So I've been doing some more experimenting with Smocking; also referred to as pleatwork embroidery in reenactment circles. In my searching I came across some amazing beaded samples on the web. Whew...what a month
After a month of crazy amounts of sewing, I am taking the morning to just piddle around on the web and catch up on some TV. I just finished putting up the Opera production of Nicolai's Merry Wives of Windsor. We decided on a Elizabethan inspired design. The director wanted it to have a storybook/fairytale feel. Pleatwork Hemd Continued
Well, I have gotten a lot done on the hemd. It is very slow going, but I am finally in a groove. Not sure that I will finish it in time, so I may have to use the one I already have done.
