I was watching that fine Christmas movie, Die Hard, and got to remembering a discussion years ago amongst some of my fannish friends about how Jack Bauer, John McClane and ... the third guy I can't remember! would share stories about their Very Bad Days...

Roku or Amazon Fire?
I figured out my LG smart tv is only sort of smart, and doesn't have apps for a couple of streaming services I'm looking at. Both Roku and Fire will do what I need, so I'm looking for pluses and minuses for each. Oh, also, I'm also not a huge fan of Amazon's Alexa and the basic Amazon intrusiveness.

Got the second shot!
I got my second Pfizer Covid shot yesterday, so YAY! Today I have an achey arm, took a couple of tylenol and things seem to be fine.
Now for the rest of the world to get on board so we can return to something normal-ish...

I got a FauciOuchie!
Lucky me! I was sitting at my computer yesterday when the email came that my clinic group had appointments available for Covid vaccine. I logged in super quick and got one! And today I got my first Pfizer Covid vaccine. Well organized, in and out in about an hour, with the second dose appointment all scheduled.

I had a call this morning (that, sadly, I didn't pick up, I was in the shower) from the Young Republicans asking for support for, well, you can imagine what they wanted. Money. I was watching The Beat with Ari Melber the other day on MSNBC and he was interviewing Cory Booker (D-NJ), who is running for President. Ari does a "lightning round" of questions to his guests which have some political and some not political questions. OMG! Civil War!
So, on July 2, conspiracy nutjob Alex Jones tweeted: "BREAKING: Democrats Plan to Launch Civil War on July 4". Dickens, anyone?
Recently, I watched the PBS broadcast of "Dickensian", and enjoyed the heck out of it. Now here's where I admit I haven't read any Dickens. Yes, I managed to avoid it in school. Anyway, "Dickensian" struck me as the best sort of fanfiction of Dickens and has me thinking it's time to go to the library and see which Dickens they have on the shelf ( Read more... )
