So yes, it's my birthday today. And yes, I have hit the big 4-0. I won't like and say I haven't been dreading this, because I have. 40 is just... I don't know, it sounds so definitive in some unsettling way. I know it's not old persay, but it certainly isn't young anymore either. And there is a stigma society attaches to 40 (and post 40) year old

I understand the sometimes unpleasant awareness of one's own aging. I notice that too. Younger people who I'd like to be friends with aren't quite so open to it and it takes me a while to realize that they see me like they would see their parents or their parents' friend... sort of freaks me out. The body gets olders as the mind gets clearer and it is a profoundly strange thing to experience age!

Gawd, and we're only like, half way or something. :)

Anyway, you're awesome at 40 and will just get awesomer. :)
