Hm. Saw your post on happy news and I liked your user id, so I clicked you. XD (nice icon, btw)

Have you ever thought about a sea horse? They sell them in pet stores now*. ... They're the friendliest, happiest fish-thing, since you can't get a friendly happy warm-blooded thing... (they also do best in pairs)

*duur, I just realized, they might not in California. x_o They do at the Pet Cos in Texas e_e

Cute gerbil picture.

Have you considered rescue from a shelter instead of purchase? That wouldn't work for fish but pocket pets are sometimes available at animal shelters.

I'm thinking...fat chance on the Gerbils getting free and running the state amok. Rabbit's are great in the habbitat that I live in...problem is the coyote's, hawks, owls, and foxes eat them about as fast as they can bread. But, California does have enough problems, it probably doesn't need any more.

I was reading a reply of yours on bikepirates and decided to look at your journal.

If one were to get two males, or two females, I'm sure there would be no way they could destroy an ecosystem.
