Hi! First of all congrats on all the hard work on losing the weight! That is an amazing accomplishment and I'm envious and inspired by you because I have a good 100 pounds to lose. Seeing someone who actually accomplished something so incredibly difficult really makes me feel like I could do it too! Thank you! So on to your question. I know I eat for stress and emotional alleviation. It became a habit I fell into as a young child throughout some serious family issues. Do you know why you feel compelled to eat? Can you think of any stressful situations or triggers that compel you to eat? How do you feel about your life other than your body image? Are you pretty happy with where you are in life as in terms of education and employment? I just ask this because frequently I've noticed people will be unhappy with one aspect of their life that is somewhat uncontrollable so they'll overeat or undereat so as to gain control in a different aspect of their life. I really think your problem has very little to do with your outside ( ... )

Hi there,

What you're feeling is normal. I find that it is much easier to change the outside than it is the inside. You got used to being a certain way for so long and you've made changes but now the inside needs to catch up with the outside!

Have you thought about joining an Over-Eaters Anonymous group? You may no longer be overweight but you still have the same thoughts and feelings as when you were. Google to see if there is a group in your area.

If you haven't already, maybe giving yourself a make-over might help... buy new/stylish clothes, change your hairstyle and/or haircolor, and things like that. It's helped me in that past to see myself as I am and not as I was. It might also help to replace the need to over-eat with a different healthier habit like writing or drawing or something. I hope this was helpful, even if only a little bit. Congratulations!

I would even suggest asking someone else to take you shopping. It's fun to pick out new clothes for someone, and it's flattering to have someone admire your sense of style enough to approach you. Chances are you don't have the best idea on how to dress your new body.

If you don't have any friends with good style go to Banana Republic, Gap, Express, somewhere young and classy on a slow day and ask the clerk for help. They'll love being someone's personal shopper, and it's a lot better than folding clothes.

darkangel_5238 is right.

Now you need to tone your personality. You're too used to not liking yourself, and it's hard to completely change your perspective on things when you are so used to one thing.

KEEP THE WEIGHT OFF! I know it's tempting to start eating again since all your problems haven't been fixed, but you're almost there. It's tough but this is the fun part, you get to redefine yourself. Start being open to new ideas, go places, just but into people's conversations. Assert yourself. Make it obvious you want to be friends, remember, if someone did this to you you would be appreciative.

A route you might want to consider is vegetarianism. There are so many reasons to do it, but primarily it will help you keep your weight off more easily. It will give you a cause, something interesting about yourself. You'll admire yourself for sticking to something. I'd suggesting checking the wikipedia page for vegeterianism, goveg.com, or just googling it.

I hope this helps!

since you said youre having a lot of problems controlling your eating ... is there a chance that food was an addiction in your life?

that would explain these feelings.

plus, maybe replacing it with something healthy (not another addiction) but something to distract you, like music or writing. everytime you feel fustrated, or hungry, go write intstead. you have a journal, maybe make separate entries about your need or boredom that is causing your need; that type of thing.

just a suggestion :]
