I am in the market for a walking stick or cane for use at Pennsic. I'm looking for that magical combination of neat and reasonably priced, preferable something that can pass for somewhat period. If you come across anything interesting in your surfing / craiging / ebaying, please let me know.

Peter has a couple you can look at (one wooden, one hiking).

Also - the workwife found a camouflage cane at CVS. I think it's pretty neat. And cheap!

Darn. I just gave away the last of my dragon canes. I found these canes at a dollar store and they looked tacky/nice and were actually comfortable to use. I'll see if I can find some more.

I have an actual, functional cane from my ankle problems -- it's not hospital-aluminum; it's wood, with a plastic tortoiseshell molded top (so it doesn't scream OMG NOT PERIOD) and is very comfortable to use and put actual weight on (unlike most decorative canes you'll come across). I bought it for a totally unreasonable sum of money at a health-supply store (the kind of place that also sells walkers and colostomy supplies), but kept the receipt so the teenage minivan driver is actually the one that spent an unreasonable sum on it.

Problem is, it's "handed" -- it's moulded to fit in a left palm. And I don't remember which knee you had knifed (if your right, you're all set).

Would it be possible for MT to bring the cane to work tomorrow, and then I can try to meet up with him in the Waltham area? I'm looking for something to use this weekend at GNE.

Yes! Maybe!

Shoot him an email (mtspace at gmail) and see what's good for him for a meetup. This way we will both have a bug in our ears and hopefully will not forget. I've got to locate the thing... I think it's in a closet...
