Y'know, I wrote this as a comment on an entry in ocarina's Livejournal, but I think it can stand alone in mine as well, and I'm making this a public entry. Yes, my first public entry in god only knows how long

Is there anything wrong with a person like me liking product that may be lacking in actual creativity or talent? If I like a comic that in truth is lacking in plot or continuity, or enjoy a series that has horrendous art, does that make me a baser person? I have things I like and things I don't, and until someone tries forcing me to pay or give recognition to the things I don't like, it doesn't seem worthwhile to critique them. There are people who just don't like classic literature, even if said writing is considered the greatest in history.
I dunno. There's such an explosion of webcomics lately, I just appreciate that I have the opportunity to not only explore new talent, but that I can still sit back and enjoy the "classics" I've stuck with all this time...like QoW.
I added you to my friend's list, specifically to point you to a couple of entries that I made after Con last year - http://www.livejournal.com/users/aeire/779192.html and http://www.livejournal.com/users/aeire/779695.html - those'll give you an idea of how 'enthralled' I am with the whole elitism thing. I'm nowhere near as disenchanted with either Keenspot or MT as I was then, but it's an interesting read at any rate. Er, I like to think so. And the comments are just as entertaining.
"It goes back to what I've been saying all along - if you're going to do your comic, do your comic for what it is, not where it is. In the long run, that's really more important than anything else"
