Old post, I just found it, and I fail to see your problem. But hell, you should recognize my icon from QoW's and S*P's community journals and know "Hey theres that asshole who questions everything."

Seriously, they're advertising for your comic. They're letting your fans rate it, so you know your not going to get a bad review and if you do so what, I get plenty of bad reviews for my show on the FBC and I'll accept what I need to accept to change, and ignore the rest. What is it? Seriously, cause I'm failing to see a complaint in your post worth joining either side on this pissing match.

The question is why one wouldn't want to participate in a ratings site? One reason might be that such sites can be magnets for drama, and you might want to avoid unnecessary opportunities for such where possible. (Sites ranked lower than yours might accuse you of various nefarious schemes to inflate your ranking, for instance.)

Alternatively, you might just think they're dumb and prefer to opt out.

I don't think there's anything particularly wrong with putting together a site that links to websites and allows users to rank them, but I think that if you do so you have to expect that some people will want their links removed and you will have to decide what your response to such requests will be. (Here's Google's.) I wouldn't consider removing the link and then publicly insulting the work of the person who made the request to be the best policy ever, but apparently tastes differ.

Nothing to do with the topic of your post... prodigal November 18 2005, 04:00:18 UTC
...but since I don't know what your email address is, this seemed the most likely way to pass word about this on to you. They're turning The Dionaea House into a movie. Thought you might want to know:

I was just recently introduced to your webcomic yesterday while reading about 'OhNoRobot.com'... And I wanted to say that I adore it, and that you are super awesome for being a fan of the nearly unknown Myth series. :)

I also rather enjoy the misadventures of Zot that seem to occur randomly. :]

Pity it's 'ended', but it's all for the sake of progress, right? :D

Hey Aeire,

You probably don't remember me, but I used to frequent #crfh back in the day when you and the rest of the Great Old Ones spent a lot of time there (Shen, CG, Crazyfurries, Tchernobyl, AMIB, namedrop namedrop namedrop, etc.). So, hi! And I've been going through the QoW archives for what must be the 3rd or so time, and wanted to express a) my undying admiration for your skill as an artist and storyteller and b) my serious enthusiasm about the prospect of a new project. More Kestrel? Something totally new? The suspense is killing me :D
