Does anyone know of any decently-close totally-awesome camping locations? Some sort of river/water is a plus. River rafting would be ideal.

I'm planning farewell festivities for the weekend of July 22nd, this is one idea. For those local folks, consider this advance notice. :)

at first i thought you said "decadently close" and i thought, hm that's a weird way of putting it.
my parents going camping every other weekend, i swear. i know that the best places in washington to camp are in the olympic national park, but none of them are terribly close. but they are totally awesome.
there's actually a national park in federal way, believe it or not, that my parents love to go to. i can't vouch for it:

I can't vouch for it, since I've never actually camped there, but whidbey island has some campgrounds on it. deception pass (north side of the island), or camp casey (south side). and water. probably rafting too, or at the very least canoeing or kayaking.

my aunt/uncle live on whidbey. that's certainly an idea - though if i were going to make people take a ferry, my family has a cabin on vashon. all things to think about... thanks for the input. would you and yours be iiinterested in any of the above?
